1. Introduction:
Agriculture plays a fundamental role in sustainable development and food security, with a significant contribution from women farmers. However, women farmers often face various challenges, including limited access to resources and information, climate change impacts, and unequal participation in decision-making processes. This project proposal aims to empower women in agriculture through the promotion of climate-smart extension and advisory services, enabling sustainable farming practices.

2. Objective:
The primary objective of the project is to enhance the capacity of women farmers in adopting climate-smart agricultural practices by providing them with improved extension and advisory services. The project seeks to promote sustainable farming techniques and empower women farmers to play an active role in climate change adaptation and mitigation efforts.

3. Activities:
a) Needs Assessment: Conduct a comprehensive needs assessment to identify the specific challenges faced by women farmers in accessing extension and advisory services related to climate-smart agriculture. Engage with relevant stakeholders, including women farmers, agricultural extension officers, and local communities.

b) Capacity Building Workshops: Organize capacity building workshops targeting women farmers, where they will be trained on climate-smart agricultural practices, sustainable farming techniques, and the utilization of locally available resources. The workshops will also focus on gender-sensitive approaches, decision-making skills, and entrepreneurship development.

c) Demonstration Farms: Establish demonstration farms in collaboration with women farmers to showcase climate-smart agricultural practices, providing hands-on training and exposure to modern farming techniques. These farms will serve as learning platforms for other women farmers in the community.

d) Advisory Services: Strengthen and expand existing extension services to cater specifically to the needs of women farmers. This includes the establishment of a network of female extension officers who can provide on-site support, disseminate key information, and address specific challenges faced by women farmers. Develop and disseminate climate-smart agriculture manuals and educational materials tailored for women farmers.

e) Networking and Knowledge Sharing: Facilitate networking opportunities amongst women farmers to encourage knowledge exchange, sharing of experiences, and best practices. This can be achieved through farmer-to-farmer learning visits, participatory learning events, and the establishment of online platforms.

f) Monitoring and Evaluation: Regularly monitor and evaluate the progress of the project to assess its impact on women farmers’ empowerment, access to quality agricultural information, and adoption of climate-smart practices. Collect feedback from participants and incorporate it into programmatic improvements.
